It all started with a vision...

1941

Claude Parrish begins City Baking.

Parrish Bakeries is Incorporated.

Claude passes the torch to his daughter Gaynelle and her husband Vernon Grizzard, who sell Parrish Bakeries to Pet, Inc. frozen foods.

The Grizzards founded Coosa Baking Company & acquire Southeastern Mills as growth explodes.

Coosa Baking division sells to Campbell Taggart. Southeastern Mills expansion continues.

Southeasten Mills founded Mondo Baking Company who assisted major brands in R&D of many of the world’s most famous convenience foods.

Southeastern Mills expands, opening Milner Milling which supplies flour in bulk to foodservice customers.

1994

High performance workplace philosophy adopted by company.

1999

Custom food coatings business & facility built to service B2B.

Rice Krispies Treats

2000

At one time all Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats in the world were made in Rome, GA! Eventually leading Kellogg’s to purchase Mondo Baking Company.

2006

Center of Innovation built to support booming Custom Food Solutions division.

2008

Acquisition of Sportsman’s Recipes, and launch of Shore Lunch premium soup, breading & batter mixes.

2009

Southeastern Mills purchases Superior Quality Foods and begins to promote the Better Than Bouillon® food base brand to critical acclaim among culinary experts.

2014

Cereal Food Processors, Milner Milling, and Pendleton Flour Mills merge to form the third largest flour miller in the nation. Grain Craft, Southeastern Mills sister company, is comprised of 15 milling facilities that are spread from coast-to-coast.

2015

Acquires The Original Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce and associated brands from long time, Louisiana-based, Bruce Foods Corporation.

2019

Southeastern Mills acquires JMH Premium.

2019

New Culinary Innovation Center opens with 5,500 sq. ft. of lab, culinary, sensory and ideation space. New 140,000 sq. ft. distribution center to support current business and future growth.

2020

Southeastern Mills company rebrands to become Summit Hill Foods. Continues to service retail consumer & b2b businesses with best-in-class flavor solutions.

Today Summit Hill Foods is a leading flavor and ingredients company. But we started as a small family-owned bakery nearly 80 years ago. Our history of hard work and innovation makes us the adaptable, forward-thinking, continuously growing company that we are today. And our rich family heritage means we do it with unwavering hospitality and commitment to quality.
